Report on Celebration of International Nurses' Day-2016

Students and faculty of Maniba Bhula Nursing College has celebrated International Nurses' Day 2016 in Campus Premises at 9.30 am. Every year May 12 is chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern.The function was started by formal welcoming of students & faculties by Mr. Gibin Thomas, Asst. Professor, MBNC. Significance of the day was presented by Ms. KhyatiPatel, 1st Year, GNM student.She described about role of Nurses in Developing Strong Health System to achieve Millenium Development Goals. The theme of International Nurses? Day-2016 "Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving Health Systems' Resilience" was unveiled by Mr. Sateesh Biradar, Vice-Principal, MBNC. He then congratulated the august gathering & explained the importance of today's nurses in improving healthcare attributes&stressed about the need of care and compassion in the present world and nurses being rightly positioned in rendering quality healthcare services. The entire faculty enthusiastically involved in the activities. The function was ended with national anthem.

REPORT ON WORLD EARTH DAY-2016

World Earth Day is celebrated every year on 22nd April to raise awareness and spread gratitude for our planet and all it has to offer. Many organizations & communities around the globe have held Earth Day celebrations and events since its inception in 1970. This year, Students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College have planned and prepared Earth Day events for fellow students, faculty and staff, as well as for the surrounding Campus & spread the Awareness on World Earth Day Theme - 2016: "Trees for Earth". The scheduled events organized were Tree Planting, Cleaning Campus, Rally on Theme of World Earth Day. Mrs. M. Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC initiated the events by Planting Tree in College Campus. The students & faculty involved themselves in Tree Planting & Cleaning Campus Campaign.

Report of Annual Day & Farewell Function

Maniba Bhula Nursing College organized Annual Sports Events from 02-03-2016 to 05-03-2016 with individual and group events for girls and boys.The Sports events were 100 mts, 200 mts race, Relay, High Jump, Shot Put, Disc Throw, Javelin Throw, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Carrom. All students of MBNC were divided into four groups such as Silver, Gold, Diamond & Platinum and competitions were held among these groups. The students participated in all events with full of enthusiasm.

Annual Day Celebration with prize distribution and Farewell of 5th Batch B.Sc (N) & 3rdBatch P.B.B.Sc (N) & GNMstudents were held on 16th April, 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm followed by cultural programme at Jatin Desai Hall. Dr. D. R. Shah, Provost, UTU was Chief Guest and Shri. Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary, BPKMwere the Guest of Honor. The function was started with UTU anthem. Mrs. Swati Gamit, Asst Professor, MBNC welcomed the guests & Mr. Satish. Biradar, Vice-Principal, MBNC presented Annual report of academic year 2015-16. A total of 24 academic meritorious students were awarded by presenting Books&180 prizes were given to winners of Sports Events. Followingspecial awards are given to outgoing students:

Farewell to 5th Batch B.Sc (N) & 3rdBatch P.B.B.Sc (N) & GNM students was given and they were presented with mementos. Mrs. M. Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC blessed the students & suggested them various career opportunities. Chief Guest Dr. D. R. Shah addressed the gathering and encouraged student with his motivating words. Guest of Honor, Shri Kiritbhai Patel congratulated the winners and motivated the students with their inspirational words. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Victomon P. J, Tutor, MBNC. The function was concluded with National Anthem.

Report on SNA Sports Activities ? 2016

Maniba Bhula Nursing College organized its Annual Sports events from 2nd to 5th March 2016. On this event students both individually and in group participated in all the sports events.

To enhance sportsman spirit among the students, the entire students of MBNC were divided into four groups namely Silver, Gold, Diamond & Platinum. Further the mentors faculties were appointed to each group to motivate students participation.

Mr. Bharat Vaidya, Director, Srimad Rajchandra School of Sports and Mrs. M. Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC inaugurated the SNA Annual Sports Event Activities for the year 2016. Mr. Sateesh. Biradar, Vice- Principal, MBNC, Mr. Gibin. Thomas, SNA Advisor, MBNC cheered and encouraged the students for their initiativeness and their interest in sports activities.

The Track events were 100 mts, 200 mts, 4x100 mts race and field events Shot Put, Disc Throw, Javelin Throw, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, KhoKho >Indoor game Carom was also played by the students. All students participated in all events with full of energy & enthusiasm. All the events were well managed by Sports In charge Mr. Veeresh. Topalakatti & Mr. Anil. Patrimath.

On the last sports day few events like Tug of War and Musical Chair for the staff of MBNC were conducted. The overall championship was bagged by the Platinum group and the runner up by Silver group. Prizes and medals will be distributed at the Annual Day function of the college.

Inauguration & Naming Ceremony of MBNC Library held on 05/03/2016 at MBNC Premises.

It was a landmark day for Maniba Bhula Nursing College; Bardoli for the sophisticated library was formally inaugurated & named as "Premi Parag Library" with full gaiety and festivity on 05/03/2016 at 09.30 am. The library aimed at thwarting out the traditional difficulty in finding out information required for the nursing students for academic as well as for extracurricular purposes. Huge voluminous books of numerous pages, is highly beneficial for the students as it has been structured with quick search facilities and various multimedia streaming techniques. With a single click, the students will be able to access information needed for them stored in the library server in more than 30 Categories in various content.

The event was inaugurated by philanthropic donors Shri. Dineshbhai R. Parag, Mrs. Sushilaben Dineshbhai. Parag, Shri. Chandubhai. Parag, Mrs. Punitaben Chandubhai. Parag. The function was presided by Shri. Kiritbhai. Patel, Mrs. Susheelaben Kiritbhai. Patel & Dr. Dinesh R. Shah.

Blood Donation Camp Organized at MBNC premises on 02/03/2016

Uka Tarsadia University in association with Rotary Club, Surat organized Blood Donation Camp in Maniba Bhula Nursing College premises on 2nd March 2016 at 09.30 am to 3.00 pm. This camp was organized in honor of Dr. N. C. Shah, Director, CGPIT, UTU on his Birth Day who turned 68 this year.

Dr. Amrut Patel, Medical Officer of CHC & President, Rotary Club, Bardoli inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. Mr. Vyom. Pathak, Former President, Rotary Club, Surat, Mr. Achal Desai, Rotarian, Surat, & Mr. Nehal Nayak, Secretary Rotary Club, Bardoli congratulated the Management, The Principal and students of UTU came forward to organize this event and also assured to extend support of Rotary Club for similar activities in future.Principal of MBNC Mrs.M. Jayalakshmi in her presidential remarks wished Dr. N. C. Shah and Rotary Club team team for having organized an event of social benefit. Mr. Satish. Biradar, Vice Principal, MBNC &Mr. Victomon. P. J, Nursing Tutor, MBNC coordinated for conducting the camp. All students voluntarily came forward to donate the blood. Over 130 students and faculty from CGPIT took part in this blood camp and the organization successfully collected 105 units of blood.

Pulse Polio Immunization 2016

Pulse Polio is an Immunization campaign established by the government of India to eliminate poliomyelitis (polio) in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against polio virus. The project fights poliomyelitis through a large-scale pulse immunization programme and monitoring for polio cases.

Second Year BSc Nursing Students and Third GNM students of MBNC have participated in Pulse Polio Immunization programme - 2016 which was held on 17th January and 21st February on Sunday. The first dose Polio programme was conducted in January 17, 18 &19 and Second dose Polio Immunization during 21, 22 & 23 of January. A total of 60 students had participated in this programme under the guidance of Mr. Victomon P J and Ms. Parisha Chaudhari from Community Health Nursing Department MBNC.

CANCER DAY CELEBRATION

Place: Bharat cancer hospital Saroli, Surat.

World cancer day is celebrated throughout the world on 4th February , to bring awareness among the people in the society and to provide them knowledge regarding the different types of cancer .The theme was "WE CAN, I CAN" for 2016-2018.

On the fine morning of 4th February the function began with the word of prayer followed by the welcome of the chief guest, the members of Indian medical association, Surat branch. The 3rd year b.sc nursing students of MBNC also participated in the celebration of cancer day along with the staff of the Bharat cancer hospital. The cancer screening camp also arranged, around 400 people came for the free cancer screening camp in which our students showed their active participation. There was also an exhibition arranged on poster presentation which was inaugurated by Mr. Mahindra Bhai katargamwala, trusty of Bharat cancer hospital. Students participated very actively and have prepared the colorful posters which were on the topic of A-Z cancer that are faced in day by day lifestyle. Students well directed the people, explained them detaily regarding different types of cancer. Presentation was appreciated by all the faculty of Bharat cancer hospital. Student did their maximum level to create awareness of cancer to the people, all of them well cooperated and have cleared their doubts. Finally the function was done successfully by the help of almighty.

Thalassemia Screening Programme 8th Dec -2015

Maniba Bhula Nursing College, Uka Tarsadia University, organized Thalassemia Screening Test Camp in association with Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Gujarat State Branch,for the students & faculty of various departments of the UTU on 8-12-2015 from 10.00 am onwards. The screening test begins with pretest counselling at srimad hall followed by screening test.

Thalassemia is a form of inherited autosomal recessive blood disorder characterized by abnormal formation of hemoglobin. A pre-marital screening in adults reduces the incidence by detecting carriers of Thalassemia.

A total of 222 students and faculty of UTU underwent the thalassemia screening test. This screening test will help to diagnose for thalassemia disorder & students will be counseled for the proper treatment of thalassemia if found positive. The Executive Director, IRCS & Thalassemia Prevention Programme, Mr. Jayesh S Solanki appreciated the MBNC faculty for the co-ordination in pretest counseling and screening test also he expressed gratitude towards all departments of Uka Tarsadia University for the participation and support.

REPORT ON LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY & OATH TAKING CEREMONY - 2016

Maniba Bhula Nursing College of Uka Tarsadia University organized a Lamp Lighting & Oath taking ceremony for the 8th Batch B.Sc. Nursing & 6th Batch GNM students on 02-01-2016, 11.00 am at Pushpam Tarsadi Hall, Maliba Campus, Bardoli. This ceremony welcomes students into the world of noblest profession that demands regular study, dedication, commitment and selfless devotion for their profession. The ceremony started with the UTU anthem. Mrs. Mayuna Z. Gohil, Asst. Director (Nsg), Government of Gujarat made her presence as Chief Guest. Dr. Gangaram Kantiya, Medical Superintendent, Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoil, Dr. Dinesh Shah, Provost UTU, Shri. Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary BPKM, Bardoli, Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Principal, Govt. College of Nursing, New Civil Hospital, Surat graced the occasion as guests of honour.

Mr. Sateesh Biradar, Vice-Principal, MBNC & HOD, Psychiatric Dept, MBNC welcomed the guests. The august dignitaries initiated the function by lighting the Deepam. Mrs. M. Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC delivered Perspective of MBNC. As a symbol of lighting the lamp, the Chief Guest of the function Mrs. Mayuna Z. Gohil lighted the Florence Nightingale lamp & transferred the luminosity to the nursing fraternity. 50 B.Sc. Nursing students & 40 GNM students respectively dedicated themselves to the nursing profession by lighting their lamps. Mrs. M Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC recited the Nightingale pledge to the students.

The chief guest of the function Mrs. Mayuna Z. Gohil congratulated all the students for choosing nursing as a profession & gave inspiration to the students. She praised the management for providing world class infrastructure in nursing education & congratulated the management for availing the permission to start M.Sc. Nursing course. Dr. D R Shah in his speech inspired the students to make their future as valuable as possible by doing hard work & focus on studies. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Gibin Thomas, Asst. Professor, MBNC. The function ended with the national anthem.

REPORT ON WORLD AIDS DAY RALLY - 2015

The faculty & students of MBNC have arranged Public Awareness Campaign on World AIDS Day on 1st December 2015 at 9.00 am. A rally was aimed at bringing better awareness on the subject & theme for the year 2015 i.e. Getting to Zero. Displaying banners and placards, the procession was flagged off & led by Lt Col M Jayalakshmi, Principal, MBNC, Bardoli. Raising slogans & messages the rally proceeded from UTU Bardoli Campus headed to Railway Station up to Mudit Palace Circle, Bardoli to bring awareness & removing social stigma & discrimination on AIDS. "Through the street walk, students spread the word about the prevention and social effects of AIDS. They should create awareness in the society about the menace as they are the coming generation who will work as a change agent." The rally generated mass awareness about HIV/AIDS to about 2500 people from the general public. The rally was ended at UTU, Bardoli Campus with refreshments given to students.

The 18th SNA Biennial State level Conference was organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College a constituent of Uka Tarsadia University from 9th October to 11th October, 2015.

The 18th SNA Biennial State level Conference was organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College a constituent of Uka Tarsadia University from 9th October to 11th October, 2015. The theme of conference was ?Clean & healthy India; Nurses concern?. A total of 3178 delegates from all over Gujarat have participated in the conference.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT EVENT AT MBNC 2015-16

Women Empowerment Fortnight celebrations, was organized by UKA TARSADIA UNIVERSITY as per the directions given by Commisionerate of Technical Education Gujarat State. All the institutions took part in the celebration by organizing various activities on the different themes related to women empowerment. In that, one of the themes was Maternal and Child Nutrition, which was organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College. Final Year and Third year B. Sc. (N) and Third Year GNM students have given health education through a Role-play. In that they emphasized on self care during Antenatal period, prevention of Intra natal and postnatal complications, care of LBW including KMC and techniques of breast feeding. The drama was performed outside of the Antenatal OPD at Sardar Smarak Hospital at 10:00 am. Another health education was given in Pediatric ward at Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli regarding PEM, Anemia, Prevention of communicable diseases, Personal hygiene, Good Habits, Home care management of diarrhea, Preventive aspects of worm infestation, Immunization and Weaning

"WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK-2015" celebrated on 7th august 2015.

Breastfeeding week celebrated on 7th august 2015. Every year since 1993, world breast feeding week is celebrated from 1st to 7th August. This is 23rd year of celebration. The WABA (World Alliances for Breastfeeding Action) co-ordinated the world breastfeeding theme in association with WHO and UNICEF. The theme for 2015 is "BREASTFEEDING AND WORK, LET'S MAKE IT WORK!" Our global goal is increasing prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding to 50% by 2025. International Labour Organization estimates that 830 million women do not have access to adequate maternity leave protection mainly in Africa and Asia, where highest cases of malnourished children are present. Enabling more mothers to breastfeed will require significant changes in national policy and support from home and workplace sector.

As a part of breastfeeding week celebration, the interactive session was organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College for the faculties and students of various department of UKA TARSADIYA UNIVERSITY. Informative talk was delivered by Dr. GautamVyas, Gynecologist, Mamta Hospital, Bardoli. He stressed on the theme BREASTFEEDING AND WORK, LET'S MAKE IT WORK! This was appropriate for the working and married women. He emphasized on the importance of BREAST FEEDING and it's role child?s health protection. Approximately 700 staff and students have actively participated in this event. The session was arranged at PushpamTarsadia Hall on 07-08- 2015 at 2:00pm. At the end of the session, memento was presented to the guest.

Report on International day against "Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" conducted on 26th June, 2015 at Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli.

Every year, 26th June is celebrated as International day against "Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking". To commemorate this day, the faculty& students of MBNC organized a health education& awareness campaign for patients of Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli. The event was graced by Dr. Gangaram Kantiya, Chief Medical Officer, Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli, Mrs. Jayalakshmi M, Principal, MBNC, Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice Principal, MBNC. Students of MBNC educated the public on various issues and ill-effects of Drugs and its impact on the family& society. Students also performed a Role Play to elaborate on thesocial and economic impact of drugs, tobacco and alcohol. Various remedial, curative and preventive measures to be adopted for saving such families were portrayed in the play. The programme ended with interactive sessions and discussions by the participants. The students & faculty actively participated in this event with a lot of enthusiasm. The hospital management appreciated the efforts made by students &expressed their gratitude.

Report on The training of nurses on Tuberculosis Care & Control in India under the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) Round 7 was conducted from 22-06-2015 to 24-06-2015

"The training of nurses on Tuberculosis Care & Control in India" under the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) Round 7 was conducted from 22-06-2015 to 24-06-2015 at Gujarat Institute of Nursing Education & Research, Ahmedabad& was organized by Indian Nursing Council. Two faculties from MBNC namely Mr. Veereshkumar M Topalakatti, Nursing Tutor, MBNC & Mr. Victomon P J, Nursing Tutor, MBNC were selected by Indian Nursing Council for the training programme.

The training course designed for nursing tutors & educators. This is a facilitator-led program & consist of 8 units focusing on Tuberculosis prevention, treatment, care & support with an emphasis of the role of the nurses in each of these areas. The sessions included teaching learning methods such as lecture, role plays, large & small group discussions, brainstorming sessions, video assisted learning & clinical site visit.
