International Nurses Day 2014 with the Theme "NURSES - A FORCE FOR CHANGE: A Vital
Resource for Health" was celebrated by Maniba Bhula Nursing College, Uka Tarsadia
University, Bardoli, on Monday, 12th May 2014 in Dr. Jatin Desai Auditorium.
International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12th May in the memory of the
birthday of Ms. Florence Nightingale, the Pioneer of Modern Nursing. The programme
started with prayer by 4th B.Sc. Nursing students. Mr. Sateesh Biradar, Asst. Professor
MBNC, welcomed the gathering. Shri Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM; Dr. D. R. Shah
Provost, UTU; Mrs. Jyotsnaben, Senior Staff Nurse, Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli;
Smt. Chandramani B.N., Principal, MBNC; Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC;
Dr. Prashant Joshi, Director, Dept. of Management and Dr.Anil Mishra, Principal,
Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, were present on the occasion. The function
was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Nurses Day Theme-2014 'NURSES - A FORCE FOR
CHANGE, A Vital Resource for Health' was unfolded by Ms. Chandramani B. N.
Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, introduced the symbol of nursing "The White Heart"
to the audience. The symbol was unveiled by Dr. D. R Shah, Provost, UTU, and Sri
Bhagubhai Patel President, BPKM.
The Nursing symbol "White Heart" was presented to all the dignitaries and audience.
The Chief Guest Dr. D. R Shah, addressed the gathering, Sister Jyostnaben and Dr.
Prashant Joshi highlighted the importance of nursing professionals and their role
in health care delivery system, Shri Bhagubhai Patel, delivered the Presidential
address.
Mr. Pranay, Final year B.Sc. Nursing student delivered a presentation on International
Nurses Day Kit and 6 aspects related to Nurses Day 2014 Theme. Vote of thanks was
proposed by Ms. Natika, Final year B.Sc Nursing student followed by the National
Anthem.
