Annual Nutrition Programme-2015 conducted by First Year B.Sc (N) & GNM students on 04-04-2015

Annual Nutrition Programme 2015 was conducted by the First Year B.Sc. Nursing & First Year GNM students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College, UkaTarsadia University, as a part of their curriculum on 04-04-2015.

The objective of the programme was to increase nutrition knowledge and cooking skills for preparing balanced and therapeutic diet among students. The students took active part in preparation of therapeutic diet and the different methods of cooking. The students prepared therapeutic diet such as Liquid Diet, Bland Diet, Soft Diet, Semi-Solid Diet, Diabetic Diet, Anti-hypertensive Diet, Iron rich Diet and Menu planning for various diseases according to calorie requirement of clients. Methods of preparation for therapeutic diet used by students were boiling, steaming, frying and baking.

The students were guided by their subject teacher Ms. AmitaChaudhary& Ms. NilamRathod. The programme was evaluated by Directors of various departments of UkaTarsadia University, Mrs. M.Jayalaxmi, Principal, MBNC, Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC and other staff of MBNC.At the end all the Directors, Faculty tasted the various nutritious diet prepared by the students. The efforts of the students have been appreciated.

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION & FAREWELL AT MBNC

Maniba Bhula Nursing College conducted its Annual Sports and Cultural competitions from 27-01-2015 to 31-01-2015 with individual and group events for girls and boys.

Annual Sports Competitions were conducted from 27-01-2015 to 29-01-2015. The Sports events were 100 mts, 200 mts race, Relay, 3 leg race, Skipping, High Jump, Shot Put, Disc Throw, Javelin Throw, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Carrom. All students of MBNC were divided into four groups such as Silver, Gold, Diamond & Platinum for cultural & sports events & competitions were held among these groups. The students participated in all events with enthusiasm.

Cultural competitions were conducted from 30-01-2015 to 31-01-2015 at J.D.Hall from 10 am to 5 pm. The Cultural events were Solo Song, Solo Dance, Group Song, Group Dance, Skit, Nail art, Mehendi, Fancy dress, Cartooning, Hair style, Fashion Show and comedy king for boys and girls.

Annual Day Celebration with prize distribution and Farewell of II Batch of G.N.M. students were held on 28-03-2015 from 10 am to 4 pm followed by cultural programmes at J.D. Auditorium. Dr. Gangaram Kantiya, CMO, Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli was the Chief Guest and Dr. D.R.Shah, Provost, UTU, and Shri Kiritbhai Patel, VP, UTU were the Guests of Honor and Mr. Bhagubhai Patel was the President of the function. The function was started with UTU anthem. Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC welcomed the guests & presented Annual report of academic year 2014-15. A total of 20 academic meritorious students were awarded, 60 prizes were given to winners of Cultural Competition, and 195 prizes were given to winners of Sports Competition. Some of the highlighted awards are as follows:

  1. Best student nurse (female): Chaudhari Zinal Gulabbhai.
  2. Best student nurse (male): Jani Bhaskarbhai Kantibhai.
  3. Best academic achiever: Gadol Urmilaben Maheshbhai.
  4. Miss. SNA 2014: Mayet Aashiyabanu Farook.
  5. Mr. SNA 2014: Gajiya Yusuf Farukbhai.
  6. Champions 2014: Platinum Group
  7. Runner-up 2014: Silver Group.

Farewell for II Batch G.N.M students was given and they were presented with mementos. Chief Guest Dr.Gangaram Kantiya, addressed the gathering and encouraged student with his motivating words. Guests of Honor, Dr. D.R. Shah & Shri Kiritbhai Patel congratulated the winners and motivated the students with their inspirational words. Shri. Bhagubhai Patel delivered presidential address. The Celebration was concluded with National Anthem.

STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT REPORT on 28 February 2015

State level workshop on disaster management organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College in association with Indian Red Cross society held at Uka Tarsadia University Bardoli, on 28th February 2015.

The inaugural function started with UTU Anthem. The chief guest of function was Dr. D.R. Shah, Provost, Uka Tarsadia University Bardoli, Mr. I. A. Kadiawala, president, TNAI Gujarat State Branch, Mr. Kiran Domadia Seceatary, TNAI Gujarat State Branch, Shri. Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary, BPKM, Bardoli, Shri. Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM, Bardoli were guest of honour. Dr. Mukesh Jagiwala, Secretary, Indian Red Cross society, Surat District Branch, Dr. Kishorkumar Rathod, Mr. Suresh Gami, Mr. Kamalkant Halvadia, Chairperson, Education Research Committee were Resource persons.

Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC, welcomed the guests and function inaugurated with lighted the lamp. Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC, delivered the significance of Disaster Management, Dr. D.R. Shah, Provost, UTU, Addressed gathering and encouraged the delegates. There were 600 Delegates participated in this workshop. Experts elaborated all domains of disaster and its management. All the sessions were informative and enlighten the knowledge and skills of delegates. Workshop was ended with vote of thanks.

"World Cancer Day celebration" conducted in Bharat Cancer Hospital, Surat on 04/02/2015.

The faculty & students of ManibaBhulaNursing College, UkaTarsadia University celebrated World Cancer Day at Bharat Cancer Hospital, Surat on 4th February 2015. In view of this celebration, the students organized Poster Presentation, Mass Health Awareness Program and free pre- screening test for cancer. The patients and the public utilized this opportunity and over 1000 people underwent the screening test.

The students were ranked for their poster presentation. The first prize was awarded to 'Self Breast Examination'poster, second prize was won by'Cancer Prevention' and the third prize was given to 'Misconception towards Cancer.'

The students & faculty actively participated in this event with a lot of enthusiasm. The hospital management appreciated the marvelous efforts of students &expressed their gratitude.

Lamp Lighting & Oath Taking Ceremony at Maniba Bhula Nursing College, UTU

Maniba Bhula Nursing College of Uka Tarsadia University organized a Lamp Lighting & Oath taking ceremony for the 7th Batch B.Sc. Nursing & 5th Batch GNM students on 20-12-2014, 5.00 pm at JD Hall, Maliba Campus, Bardoli. This ceremony welcomes students into the world of noblest profession that demands regular study, dedication, commitment and selfless devotion for their profession. The ceremony started with the UTU anthem. Mrs. Bharti Sanadia, Principal, GINERA, Ahmedabad, made her presence as Chief Guest. Mr. Purushottam G Koradia, CEO, BAPS Hospital, Surat, , Bardoli, Shri Kiritbhai Patel, Vice-President, UTU; Dr. D R Shah, Provost, UTU; Shri Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM, Bardoli & Mrs. Chandramani B N Principal, MBNC graced the occasion as guests of honour.

Mr. Sateesh Biradar, HOD, Psychiatric Dept, MBNC welcomed the guests. The august dignitaries initiated the function by lighting the Deepam. The significance of lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony was delivered by Mrs. Indrawati Rao. As a symbol of lighting the lamp, the Chief Guest of the function Mrs. Bharti Sanadia, Principal, GINERA & Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC lighted the Florence Nightingale lamp & transferred the luminosity to the nursing fraternity. Fifty B.Sc. Nursing students & 41 GNM students respectively dedicated themselves to the nursing profession by lighting their lamps & recited the Nightingale pledge.

The chief guest of the function Mrs. Bharti Sanadia congratulated all the students for choosing nursing as a profession & gave inspiration to the students. Guest of Honour Mr. Purushottam G Koradia guided the students to dedicate themselves for the care of the patients & society. Dr. D R Shah in his speech inspired the students to make their future as valuable as possible by doing hard work & studies. Shri Bhagubhai Patel delivered his presidential speech and extended his best wishes to the students. Cultural events by the students were organized as part of the function. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Sonal Pandya. The function ended with the national anthem.

Seminar at UTU on World AIDS Day

A seminar was organized by faculty & students of MBNC, UTU at JD Hall, Maliba Campus on World AIDS Day-2014 on 1st December 2014 from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The seminar was started by unveiling the Theme for World AIDS Day-2014 ?Getting to Zero? by Mrs Indrawati Rao, Vice Principal, MBNC. In her address, she discussed how all health care professionals, with the help of people, can bring down the incidence rate of AIDS to zero. The seminar had 2 sessions. The First Session was conducted by Mr. Satheesh Biradar, HOD, Psychiatric Department, on HIV epidemiology, Diagnosis, Disease Progression & Prevention. He shared his knowledge on HIV virus, causative factors of AIDS, disease progression & various measures of preventing AIDS. The Second Session was conducted by Mrs. Indrawati Rao HOD, MSN Department, on Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission & ART. In her session, she explained about various methods to prevent AIDS transmission from parents to child. She has also given complete information on treatment measures of AIDS that is Anti-Retroviral Therapy & its impact with video presentation. A panel discussion was conducted after both sessions. The students actively participated in discussion panel. The program ended with vote of thanks followed by national anthem.

UTU organizes Public Awareness Campaign on HIV/AID

World AIDS day, which is celebrated on 1st of December of every year, is an attempt to create mass awareness amongst people all over the world. With advancement in technology and society, where accessing information and getting education is easy, perceptions of people are changing. But awareness is comparatively less in rural areas. The faculty & students of MBNC have arranged Public Awareness Campaign on AIDS in association with Community Health Centre, Bardoli & Rotary club, Bardoli on 1st December 2014 at 8.30 am. A rally was organized which proceeded from CHC, Bardoli to Railway Station, Bardoli to bring awareness among people about AIDS in view of removing social stigma & discrimination on AIDS. The rally was flagged off by Shri. Ishwarbhai Parmar, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bardoli, Dr. Amrut Patel, Chief Medical Officer, CHC, Bardoli & Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC, UTU. Holding placards and banners, the students of MBNC marched around 3 kilometers with slogans like Yuvanu Jaage, AIDS Bhage; EK do Ek do, AIDS Ko Phek Do; Gali Gali mein Naara Hai, AIDS Ko Bhagana Hai. The rally aimed to educate people that AIDS can be treated like other diseases & can be prevented if necessary measures are taken.

Thalassemia Screening Test Camp

Maniba Bhula Nursing College, Uka Tarsadia University, organized Thalassemia Screening Test Camp in co-ordination with Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Gujarat State Branch & Thalassemia Prevention Programme Team for the students & faculty of various departments of the University on 25-11-2014 from 10.00 am onwards.

Thalassemia is a form of inherited autosomal recessive blood disorder characterized by abnormal formation of hemoglobin. A pre-marital screening in adults reduces the incidence by detecting carriers of Thalassemia.

A total of 200 students of UTU underwent the thalassemia screening test. This screening test will help the students to diagnose for thalassemia disorder & students will be counseled for the proper treatment of thalassemia if found positive. The Executive Director, IRCS & Thalassemia Prevention Programme, Mr. Prakash Parmar appreciated the college staff for the co-ordination and expressed gratitude towards all departments of Uka Tarsadia University.

Blood Donation Camp, Date: 6th September 2014

"Mega Blood Donation Drive-2" was organized by Akhil BhartiyaTerapanth Yuvak Parishad on 06-09-2014 at 8:30 am to 5 pm. They held this event at Terapanth Bhavan, Bardoli & Sardar Smarak Hospital. The second Year B.Sc. Nursing students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College have actively participated in this event. The aim of event was to cover 300 cities, organise 700 camps and to collect 1,00,000 units of blood in a single day. The students are assigned to register the names of donors, collection & storage of blood & to provide certificates for the donors. The students performed their best in motivating people to donate blood. A total amount of 152 units of blood has been collected in this camp.

Some students from this batch Mr. Manish Makwana & Ms. Dhimmar Nikita are self-motivated & donated their blood. The efforts of students have been appreciated by the organizers & expressed their gratitude to the institute. Teaching faculties Mr. Veeresh Topalakatti & Ms. Mayuri Rabari were co-ordinated the program. The camp was ended up with thanks giving from Mr. Pankaj Bardola, Member, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Bardoli.

Teacher's Day Celebration, Date: 5th September 2014

The students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College celebrated Teacher's Day on 5th September 2014 at Srimad Rajchandra Hall. The students have shown their respect & gratitude towards the efforts of all teaching faculty for their support & guidance. All the teaching faculties were honored by presenting memento & sweets. Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC Addressed the students,stated that "the teacher is a foremost important person next to the parents of children". By memorizing her teacher efforts she also conveyed the students to serve humanity & to spread love of care.

Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC addressed the event shared her experience & importance of a teacher in the life & she stated that it cannot be presumed that a teacher has learnt everything and he/she does not have anything more to learn. The teachers also requires to learn everyday each experience is a new learning experience andShe announced the "The Best Teachers" among the teaching faculty of MBNC 2014, who have put their maximum efforts in curriculum and extra curriculum activities with dedication, sincerity, honesty, punctuality and for their hardwork as well. Mr. Roshan R S & Mrs. Rinal Maharaulji were honored by "The Best Teacher Award".

The students had also arranged various games & talent show for the teachers as a part of recreation. All the teaching faculties were participated in the various fun games arranged by the students of MBNC. Best performers in the games have been honored by gifts. The event was ended up with vote of thanks followed by prayer.

An Expert Lecture on Higher Education and Scope Abroad, Date: 12th August 2014

Mr. Fesal Bhatti, Marketing Executive, Mr. Snehal Patel Business Development Manager from Marconi Institutes Pvt. Ltd delivered an expert lecture on the topic. They explained about the Global Nurse: Redefining health carrier and INSCOL academy. They provided information about the different courses, study system, requisites for the registration and facilities provided to the students. If Nursing students are interested for foreign training, initially 3 months training will be in India and after completion of that the students can select any of the place - Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Newzeland to the continue the remaining courses. The candidate will build up the career after completion of course in different subject like getting work permit, permanent residency etc.

World Breast Feeding Week 2014 Celebration

World Alliance for Breast Feeding Action (WABA) celebrates World Breast Feeding Week every year in 1st week of August with the theme that responds to the current Millennium Development Goals countdown process by asserting the importance of increasing & sustaining the protection, promotion & support of breast feeding.

The theme for the World Breast Feeding week 2014 was "Breast Feeding: A Winning Goal for Life"

World Breast Feeding Week - 2014 was celebrated on 08/08/2014 by Staff & Students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College, UTU, Bardoli. The program was organized by the OBG Dept, MBNC. A mass health education campaign was conducted at Sardar Smarak hospital at 10:30 am to 12.00 noon, to bring awareness among the people about importance of breast milk, breast feeding, demonstrate the techniques of breast feeding and diet requirements during breast feeding for mothers. More than 100 mothers, 50 students, Faculty and Health workers participated in this event. They were addressed by Dr. Gangaram Kantya, Medical Superintendent, Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli, and Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC.

An expert talk on the theme and was arranged at Jatin Desai hall, at 2.00 pm. The resource person Dr. Nirali Mehta, MD, Pediatric Department, SMIMER Medical College, Surat delivered an excellent talk regarding importance of breast milk, breastfeeding & explained about various techniques for effective breast feeding. She also unveiled information regarding Human Breastmilk Bank, "Yashodha Project" which is run by SMIMER Medical College, Surat since 2008. Students and faculty of various institutes of Uka Tarsadia University attended the function. The program was supported by management of Uka Tarsadia University and successfully ended with the National Anthem.

"Farewell - 2014" at Maniba Bhula Nursing College on 1st August 2014

Maniba Bhula Nursing College, Bardoli, organized "Farewell-2014" for the 3rd Batch B.Sc. Nursing Students. The programme started with prayer by 4th B.Sc. Nursing students. The guests of programme were Mr. Pramod Patel, Patron; Mr. Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM; Mr. Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary BPKM, Bardoli; Dr. D.R. Shah, Provost, UTU. Ms. Chandramani B.N., Principal, MBNC; Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC; and Dr. Anil Mishra, Principal, Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, were present on the occasion. The function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. In prize distribution ceremony, the deserving students received awards for their achievements in academic and non-academic fields.

The awards were as follows:

  2. Best student Male Nurse - Mr. Rajput Pratik
  3. Best student Female Nurse - Ms. Patel Nirali B

A token of love and appreciation was given to the students. All the guests extended their best wishes to the B.Sc. Nursing students for their future and appreciated the efforts of the students who organized the farewell function. The cultural events included dancing, singing, drama and other fun activities conducted by the students. The farewell celebration was a big success for MBNC. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Chetan, Final year B.Sc. Nursing student.

Report of Training of Trainers (TOT) on HIV/ Aids, and Anti Retroval Therapy (ART) at Institue of Nursing Education Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The Training of Nurse Trainers programme on HIV/ AIDS prevention, care and treatment under the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) Round 7 was conducted from 30-06-2014 to 05-07-2014 at Institute of Nursing Education Mumbai, Maharashtra. Over 25 Nursing Faculty from different hospitals and colleges across the country participated in the 6 days training programme. GFATM selected Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice Principal and Sateesh Biradar, Asst. Professor from Maniba Bhula Nursing College, Bardoli. The feedback from the participants was very good and all the trainees expressed satisfaction on the quality and content of the training course.

The training course has reemphasized the adoption of strict standard safety precautions in the hospitals while delivering quality care. The training units have been strengthened with the updated technical information and the incorporation of video clips in some areas to make the training more interesting and effective. The counselling unit has been made more comprehensive with additional role plays and discussions. We would like to thank NACO (National Aids Control Organization), Mr. Dileep Kumar, Project Director (GFATM) & President, Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi; Mrs Meena Sonavane, Principal and Co-ordinator, Institute of Nursing Education Mumbai; Dr. D.R.
